Lucy Fraiser, PhD, DABT, a Board Certified Toxicologist and Principal at Zephyr, authored the feature article, “EPA May Go Beyond Law and Science in Setting NAAQS,” in the October 2014 issue of Natural Gas & Electricity, a monthly journal for producers, marketers, pipelines, distributors, and end-users. The article explores the fact that, while the distinction between “adverse” and “non-adverse” effects have historically been based on medical considerations when setting National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), increasing emphasis is now being placed on quality of life measures and population risks potentially present even when no individual experiences a level of exposure that is associated with clinically relevant consequences.
