Zephyr has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to prepare an environmental assessment (EA) of a proposed project which utilizes new technology to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from flue gas emissions at an existing industrial facility. This EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as amended (42 U.S.C 4321), the President’s Council on Environmental Quality regulations for implementing NEPA (40 CFR 1500-1508), and DOE’s implementing procedures for compliance with NEPA (10 CFR 1021). The proposed project would convert captured CO2 emissions from industrial sources into useful commercial products. A multi-disciplined team of Zephyr staff have contributed to prepare this comprehensive document that is designed to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed action, identify adverse environmental effects that cannot be avoided, evaluate alternatives to the proposed action, and describe the cumulative impacts of the proposed action. Zephyr has submitted the draft EA to the DOE for review.
