Zephyr prepared a hazardous waste permit application for a facility located in Texas that operated interim status tanks and container storage areas, as well as an underground injection well. Plans were developed to allow flexibility in operation and closure of units to minimize the need for permit modifications. During the permitting process, Zephyr assisted the client in converting the permit application from an on-site generator to a commercial waste disposal facility. This modification involved the development of a Waste Analysis Plan that identified a myriad of waste streams that could be accepted for disposal in the injection well and the waste acceptance criteria/sampling to be applied to incoming waste streams. The facility ultimately received a hazardous waste permit for the operation of waste management units for their own waste, as well as the management of wastes from off-site destined for disposal via the injection well.
